PETITE EQUESTRIAN PROGRAM

Seaton Hackney Stables PEP offers several programs for smaller children (age 3 to 6)

Seaton Hackney Stables offers several programs for smaller children (age 3 to 6). Our Petite Equestrian Programs allow these children to acquire basic horsemanship skills in small groups.

Baby Riders (BBR) is a unique and innovative program for 3-5yo based on the French method of “Bébé Cavaliers” and developed by Seaton Hackney staff to better prepare young aspiring equestrians to the wonderful world of equines. Through music and balance exercises the program aims to develop hand-eye coordination and balance while capturing the children’s attention through little games and physical activities on and off the ponies.

The Pony Grooming & Riding Program (PGRP, for 5yo-7yo) , a natural continuation of the BBR Program, focuses more on a direct, yet safe approach to handling and riding the ponies in a non-threatening and fun-filled environment. The children will learn how to lead, groom and tend for their mounts as well as the basics of riding and controlling them at the slow gaits. This program constitutes an excellent preparation for future equestrian ventures such as private lessons, Troop or trail riding.

Sessions limited and spaces fill up quickly so reserve your spot early by visiting our office or faxing us your completed PEP form today.

Registration forms for the current season’s programs are available on the forms page.

Please note that insurance regulations require that parents sign a liability waiver as there is an inherent risk when working with horses. Children will be lectured on safety at the beginning of each session. Late arrivals who miss the safety lecture may forfeit riding time. Children must wear protective head gear (bicycle helmets are sufficient) and footwear (closed toe shoes).
